Experience the redwoods with depth, clarity, and confidence through a fully guided naturalist led exploration of Redwood National and State Parks.
This region is far more complex than it first appears. Redwood National and State Parks are a mosaic of landscapes including Prairie Creek, Jedediah Smith, and Del Norte Coast Redwoods, shaped by a long and layered conservation history and an evolving scientific understanding of Sequoia sempervirens, the coast redwood.
Because of this complexity, even iconic destinations can be difficult to navigate or fully interpret on your own. The best groves are not always obvious, and the most meaningful experiences often depend on knowing where to go, when to go, and what you’re actually looking at once you arrive.
A naturalist guide helps bring all of this into focus.
With years of experience working throughout this region, I tailor each outing to your interests, travel base, pace, and physical abilities. Whether you want to focus on old-growth ecology, wildlife, photography, forest history, or simply experience the scale and presence of these forests in a more intentional way, your time is shaped around what matters most to you.
Instead of spending valuable time planning routes or sorting through options, you can step directly into the experience you came here for with context, direction, and deeper understanding built in.
Share a bit about your interests, where you’re staying, and what you hope to experience. I’ll design a custom plan that fits your goals, timing, and comfort level so your visit feels intentional, not overwhelming.
Program Fee: $395 per group
Duration: Half-day guided experience (3 to 4 hours)
Group Size: Up to 7 people*
*For groups larger than 7, please inquire before booking. Additional permit fees due to group size may apply.

A private, full day naturalist led experience designed for guests who want to explore Redwood National and State Parks with depth, flexibility, and expert interpretation throughout the entire day.
This 6–7 hour experience includes a relaxed picnic lunch and is structured as an immersive journey through the redwood landscape rather than a fixed itinerary. It is best suited for guests with a rental vehicle, allowing for efficient movement between groves, overlooks, and ecological zones across the Humboldt Redwood Coast including Prairie Creek, Jedediah Smith, and Del Norte Coast Redwoods.
Your experience begins meeting directly at your hotel or lodging anywhere along the Redwood Coast region.
From there, I join you in your vehicle as your dedicated naturalist guide, providing continuous interpretation as we travel between locations. Along the way, the forest itself becomes part of the narrative, landscape, history, ecology, and conservation all connected in real time.
Rather than following a rigid schedule, the day is shaped dynamically based on conditions, interests, energy levels, and opportunities that emerge in the field. This allows for a more fluid and responsive experience, with the flexibility to adjust routes, timing, and destinations as we go.
Redwood National and State Parks are expansive and ecologically diverse, with old-growth groves, recovering forests, river systems, and coastal environments spread across a large and sometimes non-linear landscape.
Having a guide embedded in your vehicle allows you to move efficiently between key areas while maintaining continuity of interpretation, so the story of the forest unfolds throughout the entire day, not just at individual stops.
This format also allows us to respond in real time to conditions such as light, weather, wildlife activity, and crowd levels, ensuring the experience is always optimized for the day itself.

Forest Bathing, also known as Shinrin-yoku (“forest bathing” in Japan), is a guided practice that translates more accurately as “to take in the forest environment.” Despite the name, there is no actual bathing involved, and no special equipment is required.
This is not a hike, and it is not a traditional nature tour.
Instead, it is a slow, guided experience designed to help you reset, refocus, and refresh your mind and body through direct connection with the forest.
As a Certified Nature and Forest Therapy Guide, I lead your group through a series of gentle, sensory based invitations designed to help you slow down and fully engage with the natural environment. These invitations may include simple practices such as noticing light through the canopy, listening for subtle sounds in the forest, or exploring textures, scents, and movement in a more intentional way.
The goal is not to teach facts or identify species, but to create space for direct experience allowing the nervous system to settle and attention to naturally soften.
Many guests find this shift helps reduce mental fatigue, stress, and overstimulation, while increasing a sense of clarity and presence.
This experience is intentionally different from a standard ecological or interpretive tour. We do not focus on natural history interpretation, plant or animal identification, or covering large distances.
Instead, we move slowly, or not at all for extended periods, and spend time deeply experiencing the forest in place. The experience can be fully adapted to individual needs, including guests with limited mobility or wheelchair accessibility.
The emphasis is on accessibility, ease, and comfort, not physical effort.
While the experience itself is simple and unstructured in pace, many guests leave with something lasting.
Rather than delivering information, the practice helps you develop a personal “toolbox” of simple sensory and attention-based techniques that can be used independently in nature or even in everyday environments.
The goal is not only to experience the forest differently during the session—but to leave with a way of returning to that state of presence on your own.
